Amazon Studios has landed the conspiracy thriller series The Terminal List, starring and executive produced by Chris Pratt in his return to television. The ongoing drama, based on Jack Carr’s bestselling novel, is directed/executive produced by Antoine Fuqua and writen/executive produced by David DiGilio (Strange Angel). Amazon Studios will co-produce with Civic Center Media, MRC’s joint TV venture with UTA, in association with MRC Television.

The Terminal List follows James Reece (Pratt) after his entire platoon of Navy SEALs is ambushed during a high-stakes covert mission. Reece returns home to his family with conflicting memories of the event and questions about his culpability. However, as new evidence comes to light, Reece discovers dark forces working against him, endangering not only his life but the lives of those he loves.

To help with authenticity, The Terminal List intends to have veterans and their families as part of multiple aspects of the series production, starting with writing. Half the show’s writing staffers are either veterans themselves or have veterans in their families.

Pratt nabbed the rights to the book by Carr, a former Navy SEAL and Special Ops team leader. He brought it to Fuqua, then together they took it to MRC. Pratt and Fuqua worked together on The Magnificent Seven, which Fuqua directed and in which Pratt starred along with Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke.

The package was taken out in February and drew interest from multiple streamers, ultimately landing at Amazon.

Pratt is coming off his appearance in the buzzy Parks and Recreation charity special; this marks his first TV role since his co-starring stint on the praised NBC comedy series.

Chris Pratt’s upcoming sci-fi actioner, which was recently retitled “The Tomorrow War,” has set a Christmas Day 2020 release date.

The Paramount film was formerly titled “Ghost Draft.” It follows a man (played by Pratt) who is drafted to fight a future war in which the fate of humanity may rely on his ability to correct issues of the past. Yvonne Strahovski, Betty Gilpin, J.K. Simmons and Mary Lynn Rajskub also star in the pic.

Chris McKay is directing from a script by Zach Dean.

David Ellison’s Skydance Media is financing. Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, Jules Daly, David Goyer and Adam Kolbrenner are producing the project, while Rob Cowan serves as executive producer.

“The Tomorrow War” will face off against Universal’s historical drama “News of the World,” starring Tom Hanks.

Chris Pratt is set to executive produce The Tomorrow War, in addition to starring in the film. Originally titled Ghost Draft, the film is set in a future where the human race is waging a war against aliens. The plot will reportedly focus on a man who is drafted to fight in the war, with the chances for humanity’s survival relying on his ability to alter the mistakes of his past. GLOW standout Betty Giplin and J.K. Simmons – who has had a busy year, reprising his role as J. Jonah Jameson and playing a pivotal role in the Veronica Mars revival – have also been announced as leads. Yvonne Strahovski, Theo Von, Sam Richardson, and Keith Powers round out the cast.

Pratt is known for playing Peter Quill/Star-Lord in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as well portraying the affable Andy Dwyer in Parks and Recreation. His other big screen credits include tentpole projects like Jurassic World, The Lego Movie, and Passengers. Pratt has become one of Hollywood’s reliable leading men, with his name attached to a number of much-awaited sequels that are currently in various stages of development. The Tomorrow War, however, might have a special significance to the actor given that it’s his first time as an executive producer on a high-profile movie.

Pratt posted on his Instagram profile, sharing a first look at The Tomorrow War and mentioning why the original title was altered. The actor also ran through other possible titles for the futuristic wartime thriller. Some of them are more on the humorous side but others, like ‘World War A’, have a nice ring to it.
